New Robert Smith Song Covering "There's a Girl in the Corner" by The Twilight Sad
It's been years since The Cure has released a new album, but Robert Smith has thankfully covered a song by another band every so often. There is another one this summer of 2015. Robert Smith of The Cure covers "There's a Girl in the Corner" by The Twilight Sad. It will be released on Vinyl as a B side to "It Never Was the Same" by The Twilight Sad.

Fire in Cairo by The Cure Gone Techno
Fire in Cairo is one of my favorite songs from The Cure's first album--Three Imaginary Boys. I was fortunate enough to see the epic band play it live during their 2011 Reflections tour.
F-I-R-E-I-N-C-A-I-R-O!
You know how the tongue twister goes.
Anyway, I was unpacking a box in the garage today and listening to the Digitalism station on Pandora when (among the throbbing beats of a Digitalism song) I heard said tongue twister called out in the lyrics. I dropped my stuff and headed over to the iPad where I saw the name of the song:
Digitalism in Cairo

Andy Vella has been observing Robert Smith and The Cure since 1981. He has designed the majority of the artwork for The Cure's record releases, either as one half of Parched Art or working solo, and has photographed the band in its multiple incarnations. 'Obscure' is a unique collection of rare and unseen photographs of The Cure in the studio and in performance. This visually stunning and beautifully designed volume has been compiled with the full cooperation and input of Robert Smith, who has also written the foreword.
